1. General information
This subject proposes human resources management as a strategic factor in business management. Its goal is to introduce the principles of general economics and business, as well as to present the company as a set of activities or parts interrelated with each other. It tries to perform an in-depth analysis of the main functional areas of HR management: planning, incorporation, development, maintenance and evaluation. Human resources managers are one of the key figures in achieving the overall goal of integrating and implementing a genuine organizational culture.
This approach is aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda: SDG 3. Health and Well-being and SDG 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
2. Learning results
Upon completion of this subject, the student will be able to:
1: Define the basic elements of human resources management and analyse the causes and evolution of the human resources function.
2: Understand human resources management in a strategic management context and incorporate it into the company's organizational structure design.
3: Understand the legal framework in which the Spanish company operates regarding work, safety, health and workers.
4: Recognize the concept of human capital and social capital of the company, as well as their development through training and the educational system.
5: Identify the needs in human resources based on the objectives that the company intends to achieve and know how to choose the most appropriate additive or subtractive actions.
6: Understand the job position as a structuring element of human resources management and be capable of describing and assessing any job position in the organization with the appropriate methods, as well as pay attention to the prevention of occupational risks.
7: Understand the different stages of the external and internal recruitment and selection process, taking into account the job requirements.
8: Structure a remuneration compensation system based on the most valued elements in the company (person, position, competence, etc.)

4. Academic activities
1. Master classes in which the theoretical foundations of the subject are presented.
2. Problem classes and readings which include practical applications of the theoretical foundations and their presentation by the students.
3. Laboratory practice classes in which, in small groups, a series of practices are carried out using computer tools, search for information through the Internet, databases and specific group dynamics.
4. Tutoring .
5- Any other activities that the teacher deems appropriate.
5. Assessment system
ALTERNATIVE EVALUATION
- Preparation and subsequent oral presentation of a critical analysis of a reading assigned by the teacher. The readings will be related to the functions of HR management (15% of the final grade).
- Records of performance on individual and collective activities (CV and cover letter, problems, case studies, group dynamics, audio visuals, debates, etc.), proposed by the teaching staff that will take place during the teaching period (25% of the final grade).
- A final written test that will consist of theoretical and practical questions. This test will be carried out on the date and in the manner established by the Centre, and will be common to both assessment formulas (60% of the final grade).
In order to pass the subject, the student must obtain a minimum grade of 5 in the three evaluation activities considered as a whole. In order for the reduced written test to average with the rest of the activities, the student must obtain at least a 2.5 (out of 6 points).
OVERALL ASSESSMENT
The exam will consist of two parts. The first one corresponds to the final written test of the alternative assessment (60% of the final grade). The second part will consist of another additional written test of a similar structure to ensure the acquisition of skills (40% of the final grade).
